Snap On Dentures Supported Mini Implants

What are Complete (Full) Implant-Supported or Mini Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures are a type of full denture that is securely attached to dental implants placed in the jawbone. Unlike traditional removable dentures that rest on the gums, implant-supported dentures are anchored by implants, providing enhanced stability, comfort, and function.

There are two common types:

  • Standard Implant-Supported Dentures – Use regular-size implants (usually 4 to 6 per arch) surgically placed into the jawbone. These can support a fixed (non-removable) or removable denture.
  • Mini Implant-Supported Dentures – Use smaller, less invasive implants (often 4 to 8 per arch). They are ideal for patients with less bone volume and typically support a removable denture that snaps into place.

Both options provide a more secure and natural-feeling alternative to traditional dentures and are customized to fit each patient’s needs.

Main Benefits of Implant-Supported or Mini Implant-Supported Dentures

  • Superior Stability – Dentures stay firmly in place, no slipping or movement.
  • Improved Chewing Power – Allows for better chewing of a wider variety of foods.
  • Enhanced Comfort – Less irritation to gums compared to traditional dentures.
  • Natural Look and Feel – Provides a more natural appearance and bite.
  • Preserves Jawbone – Implants help prevent bone loss and facial sagging.
  • Long-Term Solution – With proper care, implants can last for many years.
  • Boosts Confidence – Restores self-esteem with a secure, attractive smile.
  • No Need for Adhesives – Eliminates the need for messy denture glues.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who is a candidate for implant-supported dentures?

Most people in good health with sufficient jawbone are candidates. Mini implants are an option for those with less bone density.

Standard implants are larger and offer more support for fixed dentures. Mini implants are smaller, less invasive, and typically support removable dentures.

The process varies but often takes a few months, including healing time. Some mini implants can be placed and used the same day.

They can be fixed (non-removable) or removable, depending on the patient’s needs and type of implants used.

Most patients report minimal discomfort. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, and recovery is typically smooth.

Maintain good oral hygiene by cleaning the dentures and implants daily. Regular dental check-ups are essential.

Implant-supported dentures cost more upfront, but they offer long-term value, durability, and improved quality of life.
